Update #4

Since January 2017, LSNA has spoken to over 800 people in 30 + Know Your Rights presentations to both teachers and community residents. Estudiantes Sin Fronteras is a campus group within Shurz High School that is led by LSNA Youth Organizer Jennifer Velazquez.

Within our production 15 students were involved including two alumni from our club who helped with voice translations in Spanish and English. The know your rights video is about 6 minutes in length and provides information on what to do if Immigration comes to a person’s house or work. What to do so people don’t get pulled over by officials and what to do if you are stopped. At the end the students speak about how the club makes them feel, their message to their peers, and how the teacher sponsor feels about the club at Schurz.

More Info

LSNA’s organizing work embodies the values of: Love, Restoration, Connection, Culture, & Empowerment.  In the wake of the election many, many, people came together to say – now what?  What can we do to protect and lift up our values when we feel this sense of fragmentation?

LSNA is unabashedly, 100% pro-immigrant.  We know and love our neighbors. We also know that our economy is more robust, our democracy is healthier, and our country is stronger because immigrants have endured great personal sacrifices to bring their families here to escape political and economic violence and to embrace opportunity.

Be part of our campaign to express love and appreciation to our immigrant brothers and sisters. We want Logan Square to be a model sanctuary community where our values are positively practiced. Whether as an individual or a member group, we need you!  Please help us raise $10,000 dollars to fund a Sanctuary Network Builder.  Any amount is appreciated and all is tax deductible.  Please be as generous as you can and encourage others as well. And then stay tuned for other ways you can be part of building our Logan Square Sanctuary Movement at http://www.lsna.net/index.html
