A reliable car for my disabled mom

A reliable car for my disabled mom

From Taunya Gesner

My disabled mother, who is still caring for her disabled adopted sons, needs a reliable car. Unfortunately she does not have access to good busing and is unable to walk very far.

In Oregon, SSI only pays around $700 a month, max - that doesn't even cover housing.  My mom adopted 3 boys who have disabilities, and while they bring in a certain amount of income - she has been living month to month for decades and her financial situation continues to deteriorate.

I am working to help her stabilize, but she just cannot afford payments for another car.  I am hoping by doing some crowdsourcing, to be able to get her a minimal but reliable vehicle so she can get to and from medical appointments for herself and her kids as well as the variety of errands she needs to do.

Unfortunately, where she lives is at least half a mile from the closest bus stop, and she is not able to walk that far.  A friend gifted her last vehicle - but it has died beyond repairability and the family is struggling to get by without a vehicle.  If you can help, will you?  Every little bit makes a difference.

By helping raise these adopted boys and for all the children she fostered over the years, she has more than given back to our society at large and I hope we can all find it in our hearts to give her something that would make a huge difference in the quality of life she is currently living.
