Our third baby, Joshua, will already turn 16 years old on 30th Feb 2020. For the past few years, he has had only one single item on his birthday and wish-lists: a piano.

As you may know, he recently won a music scholarship in his secondary school and he is intent on studying music in college. After doing grade 1 in 2017, he has now skipped ahead and is currently working on grade 8 pieces, though he still has a lot of theory to catch up on - his piano teacher in Cork was wondering whether he had already overtaken her! I was looking at electronic keyboards but both the piano shop and Josh’s piano teacher, on hearing what he plays (Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff etc.) and also how he plays (very dynamically) advised against an electronic piano, too fragile. He also composes mostly classical pieces for piano, guitar and choir. Music gives Joshua solace, a purpose and pure happiness. For his education and his future, he really needs a proper piano. He tried all the instruments in all the shops we visited and fell in love with a second-hand upright Yamaha with a clear bright sound. But at $1000 , it is way above my budget. So I am turning to Fundly, which also has a donor protection guarantee, to ask all my friends and family whether they would like to contribute to Josh’s piano – any amount, however small, would be gratefully received. It would also mean so much to Joshua to know that his friends and family would support him in his dream of having a real piano. Please also share and spread the word. Thanks!
