Since 2011 we have had the privilege of working with injured and abandoned dogs in Malaysia. With your help, we will build a new facility that will generate funds for ALL independent rescue groups across the country.
Our handicapped dogs have a new play area! These pooches lost the use of their hind legs due to injuries from hit-and-runs, and one of them was beaten so badly by cruel neighbours that they fractured his spine. Despite the trauma, they are the most gregarious bunch you'll ever meet, and today they had plenty to smile about! Thank you to the wonderful sponsors who made this possible. We are still raising funds for road repairs and landscaping. Please give by clicking on the link, or PM us for our local account details.
Roofing is one of the most costly parts of construction, and as our funds dwindled we did not know how we would complete our boarding section. That's why we are so grateful to BLUESCOPE and partners, who stepped in and donated the materials we needed for the roof over our kennels!
We met each of our contributors in person at Bluescope's annual CSR dinner, where KLPR was honoured with a community service award. Our heartfelt appreciation to:
Mr Benny Lim and Ms Sandra Tan - Unison
Mr Renes Lim and Ms Susan Khoo - NS BlueScope Lysaght Malaysia
Mr Joe Teyew - Upper Vanguard
Mr Eric Sim - YH Laminated Product
We would also like to thank KLPR client Shelley for championing our cause, and Bluescope's CSR Manager Emelyn, who was committed to seeing this project through to the end.
Finishing touches are being made to the boarding area and we will serve our first clients from June 1.
Our pool is in! Far from being a mere luxury item, the KLPR swimming pool provides invaluable therapy for our handicapped dogs and added stimulation for our boarders. Visitors to our new resort will also be able to enjoy a dip with their pooch after a BBQ lunch or picnic hamper from our onsite cafe. If there is a dog park with a better view in Malaysia, we'd love to see it!
All this and more will be available to pet owners once our project is complete. We have raised a massive RM280K but are still RM120K from our target. Please help us help the community by making a donation through Fundly.com, or PM us for our local account details.
The only way to truly appreciate the scale of our project is from the air! We had to literally cut the top off a hill to get enough flat area to build on, and this still only accounts for half of our property. The sloped land will be converted into a free-running dog recreation area, with a cafe, inground swimming pool and BBQ pits. More than a hundred and fifty rescued dogs reside here already, and we hope to finish the resort section by the end of. March.
We could not have made it this far without our amazing donors and we need your continued contributions to see it through to the end. Please give by visiting our Fundly page, or PM us for our local account details.
Four of our handicapped dogs have been moved into their new quarters at Kalumpang! The 40ft refurbished container house features seven individual tiled kennels, insulated roofing and an ensuite shower. Our "racer" pooches are exercised three times daily and are already whizzing around like they own the place!
We still have our resort and recreation areas to complete, as well as a ramped play-park for these disabled dogs. Please support the final stage of our building project by making a donation today.
The incredible generosity of our donors has enabled us to recommence work in Kalumpang! Three out of four shipping containers have been delivered, and will be transformed into an office and our handicapped dog quarters. The final one to arrive will become a funky grooming salon to keep our pooches and yours looking their best!
With the foundation of our boarding kennels well underway, we hope to host customers at our improved resort by March 2018. We still need funds for:
1) clinic and quarantine
2) beams and roofing
2) mesh fencing
4) road repairs
5) public recreation area
Every cent you give brings us closer to this goal. Please visit our Fundly page to donate with your card, or message us for our local account details.
UFC champion Cris "Cyborg" Justino visited Malaysia this weekend to star in our recent fundraiser, a mixed martial arts workshop. In order to truly understand our cause, Cris and her team spent an afternoon at Kalumpang cuddling and feeding our residents. They were so moved by the care shown for every animal that Cris has pledged to be one of our permanent brand ambassadors!
Running two locations is draining our finances and we still need RM240K complete our new facility. Please make a contribution through our Fundly page or PM us for our local account details.
With much work to be done, it's not often we stop to smell the roses. Today we couldn't help but admire the way the sun hit the buildings out in Kalumpang, filtering through the steel beams and accompanied by a familiar breeze. We have a hundred and fifty rescued dogs who call this home thanks to those of you who have donated to our cause. It's not over yet, but being with so many happy pooches is both a reward and an encouragement! We will keep our noses to the grindstone until our vision is complete.
Phase 2 of our project is to construct handicapped dogs quarters, an office, boarding kennels and a clinic. If you would like to do your part, please contribute through Fundly.com or PM us for our local account details.
JGA Grooming Academy sent over some keen students last week to beautify our Kalumpang pooches and their surroundings! Our own resident groomer, Maury, studied at JGA and they have never failed to remember us in our times of need. Not only did these gals and guys wash dogs and paint walls all afternoon, they even brought us lunch and donated a collective RM1000! Thank you Jamie and everyone at JGA. If you are interested in being part of the best grooming school in town, visit http://www.jga-groomingacademy.com/en/
We're working full-time out at our new property this week, which means our home dogs are along for the ride! Tyson and Scooby are just two of seven paralysed KLPR pooches, and the next stage of our project is to build them a proper handicapped facility. This building will be fondly known as "Wheels Manor", and features a play area with wheelchair ramps and vinyl flooring that will be easy on their limbs. Estimated cost? Another RM80,000 (USD18,500). Construction is on hold until we get enough funding to recommence. Give Tyson and Scooby the home of their dreams by donating on Fundly.com or PM us for our Malaysian account details.
Thank you to Betty, Claudia & David, Phyllis, Diane, Joo Hee, Michelle, Casey, Richard, Su Win, Jaspreet, Christine, Elizabeth, Cedric, Brett & Adam, Kaladevi, Datuk & Datin, Janet, Adrian's, Heng Li, Sarah, Kenneth, Juin Jye, June and Judy for your recent contributions.
Zai and Baida from the Free Tree Society set us up with over two dozen saplings today to start growing some much-needed shade on our new property! FTS is a non-profit organisation that encourages environmental awareness through growing plants and giving them away to the public. They are as passionate about ecology as we are about pooches, and we are grateful to partner which them to restore the greenery that development has stripped away.
You can be a part of our project too by donating towards the cost of construction. Click on the link or PM us for details. Thanks to Casey, Julee, Liz, Cynthia, Audrey, Kai Ni, Ee Lin, Helen, Zach, Jay, Karen, Ming, Joanne, Sharon, Kanchan, Jin Just and Jeannie for your recent contributions.
Over sixty rescued dogs have moved into their new kennels at our Kalumpang centre, where half of our adoption section is fully functional! Nothing is more rewarding than seeing our pooches enjoy more spacious surroundings, still basic at present but comfortable nonetheless. Before we can relocate our remaining eighty residents, we have had to order extra galvanised mesh to complete the second half. This will consume another RM3,300 of our rapidly dwindling funds, and building will sadly come to a halt soon after.
If you are one of the many people who have liked our posts or expressed words of encouragement and have yet to donate, please take the time to do so now. You can either contribute via credit card on our Fundly page, or PM us for our local account details.

Putting a fresh coat of paint on a naked wall really helps turn a house into a home. Accompanied by friends Gareth and Lani, we spent hours brightening up our workers quarters today. Even Ella the dachshund was exhausted by the end of it! If you would like to see more buildings up and finished, please give to our new centre project. Thank you to Gareth, Lani and all our latest donors; we will include a full list in our next update.
We have surpassed our first $10,000 funding milestone! To be exact, that's RM45,000 raised since we started our online campaign a little over a month ago. This sum will go towards the connection of a permanent water supply and preliminary electrical wiring. Workers have braved persistent, heavy rain to finish the roofing over our adoption kennels and kitchen. Plastering is well underway with tiles arriving next week!
As encouraged as we are by the generosity of our donors, we are still only a tenth of the way to our target. If you have been thinking about getting involved, there's no time like the present! Please visit the link below to use your credit card or SMS 0162333647 for our local account details.

Our building project has been featured on The Star Online! Check out http://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2016/11/11/kl-pooch-rescue-seeks-rm400000-to-build-new-facility/ Thank you Ashley for the story.
Our staff were so excited to visit the building site that they brought some mango and papaya saplings to plant in anticipation of our big move! They couldn't believe how much more space the dogs will have, and were particularly excited to stand inside the area that is pegged out for their new quarters. After the tour we hiked to the stunning Sungai Chilling waterfall, just thirty minutes drive from our location.
If you think that providing world class facilities for rescued and boarding dogs is worth getting excited about, you have the chance to help make it happen. It's as simple as clicking on the link and choosing to donate. Almost at the USD5000 mark, we need your support!
NEW CENTRE UPDATE: Days of heavy rain turned our access road into red sludge, making it impossible for any heavy vehicles to deliver building materials. Work was halted until the backhoe arrived to lay more crusher run and broken bricks over the mud. The repairs set us back another RM3320 but we should be able to press forward now at full speed.
Over RM20000 has been donated by you good people since we started our campaign a week ago. We are still a long way from our RM400K target so please CLICK ON THE LINK to donate. Likes and shares are great - active participation is even better!
Thank you to Abo, Prana Yoga KL, the Saw sisters, Jamie, and Kiko and Lynda for your recent contributions.
While the cement dries on our kitchen base, workers lay the foundation of our new adoption kennels. Each space is twenty square metres and will have a tiled area as well as a sandy garden patch. Talk about an upgrade! A donation of US$300 sponsors one of these kennels, and there are many other levels of giving to choose from. $2540 raised so far, thank you and please continue your support!
Did you know that our new centre will feature a public recreation park with a pooch-friendly cafe, BBQ pits and an above-ground swimming pool? And EVERY CENT saved after covering our running costs will be allocated to independent rescuers and groups on an annual basis. Check out our new updated page for full details and to make a donation.
The builders started with the most important part of any Malaysian home - the kitchen! Ours is a sizeable one as every gourmet pooch meal will be prepared here, from our homemade raw food to the delicious options provided by Pet Daddy, Furrenz and Scrumptious. To keep our rescued dogs well fed, please become a supporter of our campaign.
