More Info

A sequel is not always a simple topic. More often than not, people like the new, rather than the familiar old because no matter how many improvements the game offers, it still exploits old ideas and formulas, so you shouldn't expect any surprises from it. Many games are presented for your attention on Game Karma. Horizon Forbidden West is a continuation of the already iconic Horizon Zero Dawn. It takes everything from the original, improving and expanding every element. And it seems that it is not so interesting anymore. On the other hand, when your game is this good, users are willing to turn a blind eye to a lot.

A Sequel That Could

At first glance, it may seem that everything is the same but with new assets. And yes, it is no secret that the visual upgrade is the most tangible improvement that is noticeable from the first minutes. It might be the best-looking game out there, but… is that enough to justify the purchase? Of course not. You will not go far on one schedule.

Fortunately, there's a lot more to Horizon Forbidden West. First of all, I want to praise the pacing, that is, the pace of the gameplay. In recent months, many of us have been intimidated by huge games that can be completed in several hundred hours, and "Forbidden West" boasts a world that is no less developed or stuffed with content. There are many additional tasks, "contracts," trials, lore, and so on. There is even its own table! But at the same time, it does not force you to do anything extra. If you want, just pretend it's a linear game with one storyline.

This is very important because not everyone has several hundred hours of free time. But I would still advise you to take your time and explore the world in all its splendor because it became not only bigger but also more detailed. There are ruins that are Tomb Raider puzzle tombs and caves with treasured loot. The world is full of question marks, yes, but not so many that you want to grab your head.

Graphic Advantage

Showing off graphics is something that PlayStation has been doing for a long time and successfully. Its studios have studied iron through and through, and know how to squeeze the most out of it. In the case of Horizon Forbidden West, the task was even more difficult than in the case of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart — another game that has earned the right to be called the most beautiful of the new generation. The fact is that if the action-platformer from Insomniac was developed exclusively on PS5, Horizon Forbidden West did not make this leap — the release also took place on old PS4s, which are still better for a million players due to their availability against the background of the semiconductor crisis. As a rule, such releases, created to please everyone, are despised by players and do not please, in fact, anyone — the owners of the new iron complain that the maximum is not squeezed out of it, and the old one — that it overheats from the load.
