Dear friends & colleagues,
During past years, you have contributed to help Syrian refugees in Paris and orphans in Senegal. Through your donations, I have met few Syrian families and have been invited to their “homes” and listened to their stories around a tea…
The lucky families huddle and share a modest room for a rent of 60€ / night, children do not attend schools and begging is the only real option when you don't have the right to work...
Your donations have relieved parents for a time and I focused on one mother left by her husband (Yosra) and her 2 little girls who now attend school ! 250€ / month is what got her over the line.
So what can we do ?
If we can hardly make an impact for parents, their children have rights in most European countries and are unfortunately unknown. It is in Europe and our interest that these children are looked after and do not grow outside the system. Publishing a short "How To" sheet tailored for refugees in English and Arabic would definitely help.
Continue to assist Yosra and her 2 little girls. She can't get refugee status as she filed her registration in Spain without knowing that she would not be allowed to apply elsewhere...
I directly engage with the families and commit to ensure that your investments make an impact where needed.
We also started covering for the fees of 2 orphans in the village of Ngabou in Senegal and does not feel like letting them down.
As per the tradition in the UK, in exchange of your contributions, I have enrolled for a sport event in Aix en Provence on the 13/05 (Half Ironman) and will do my best to complete.
