I'd like to raise money for my 8th grade classroom. I want to give my students the opportunity to self-publish their own written works and share with the Elementary students their creativity.

I teach at a small rural Indiana school where everybody knows everybody and we all try our best to watch out for each other. Many of these kids have probably never even been out of the county, let alone the state. My junior high students are just full of personality (and many of them ARE personalities!), and they have so much to share with the world. If given the chance, I believe these kids could create children's books about really poignant topics. When freewriting, one student wrote a to-do list for all her responsibilities at home (which included helping to care for her grandma and working on the family car). Another student wrote about how much she is interested in educating her fellow students on living with diabetes. I want to give these students the opportunity to see their own best work in print and share it with the Elementary students. It is my hope to raise enough money not only to send one copy of each student's book home with him or her, but also to send a middle schooler's book home with every elementary student in our school to help inspire the next generation. $3,000 would get us where we need to be. $1,500 would be workable. $500 would allow each writer to feasibly take home his or her own book.
