The 5th graders are training to participate in the Greek Olympics. The students learn to throw the javelin, discus, long jump, & run a relay. They need to travel to Alabama.
As part of the 5th grade Waldorf curriculum the students participate in a Greek Olympics. Just like in the old days they wear white togas and gold head dressings to participate in the games. They train all year to be able to correctly and gracefully throw the javelin and discus, jump the long jump, wrestle their opponent out of a circle, and run a relay. They will be judged on precision, form and grace. This year the games are being held in Birmingham, Alabama and the 5th graders are excited to travel with their teachers as a rite of passage into independence. The class is trying to raise $5,000.00 to cover all costs and have already done a garage sale, popsicle sales at school, lemonade stand and craft fairs but have only raised $600.00. Please help the 5th graders meet their goal!!! Thank you.
