More Info

Maxwell Elementary 3rd Graders have been looking forward to an over-night field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science! This year, we were fortunate enough to reserve a spot in the “Best of the Museum” camp out which is now sold out. Through this trip, 3rd graders are able to connect what they have learned in the classroom to real-life applications and give them a more hands-on experience through visits to the planetarium, IMAX Theater, and interactive exhibits and seminars. Many students leave this trip with new interests and future job aspirations because of what they were able to learn and apply through workshops and exhibits.

For many years, students were able to attend based on the generous scholarship provided by the museum to high-needs schools such as Maxwell. Unfortunately, the museum is no longer able to provide sufficient financial aid for our school to be able to attend. With the price per student being $27, few, if any, of our students would be able attend without significant financial support. Teachers and parents who donate their time to be chaperones also carry the burden of paying $27 for themselves.

For the past several years, our students have been able to participate because of the generous donations from our amazing community, family, and friends. We could not be more grateful, and are able to show our students that anything is possible when people come together to work for a common purpose!

The excitement of this field trip has been passed down from older siblings, cousins, and friends to our current students. This is Maxwell's 20th year going on this trip! On behalf of our enthusiastic 3rd graders, we ask that you consider sponsoring this exciting event!

We have about 83 students in 3rd grade right now, and will have about 20 adult chaperones. The total cost of this trip will be approximately $2,500, and our trip must be paid in-full by the end of January. In the past, most families have been able to pay a portion of the fee. We believe that no student should be limited in his/her education because of finances! We would like to use this opportunity to, once again, demonstrate perseverance in the face of financial challenges.

Thank you!
