2016 Jackalope Fundraiser and 5K for BDAR

2016 Jackalope Fundraiser and 5K for BDAR

From Black Dog Animal Rescue

Far too often, circumstances in the lives of homeless pets lead to untreated and undiagnosed illnesses and injuries which can eliminate the likelihood of adoption. Help us change that and give them a second chance.

Update #5

30 days left, the final countdown in our Spring Fundraiser begins! We just passed 20% of our goal, so the momentum is starting to gain.

Also, we've updated the campaign to reflect some great opportunities for donors. Check out the prizes you can win for helping us raise money for shelter pets!

Don't forget to share, share, share too. This campaign will not succeed if we don;t get the word out. We need your help!

More Info

We believe that treatable illness and injury should not impede a pet's chance for adoption. Our medical fund helps overcome these obstacles and makes it possible for homeless pets to go on to live happy, healthy lives in adoptive homes.

Who does the money support?

In January of 2016, 3 year old boxer mix Zyler was found lying by the side of the road. He'd most likely been hit by a car and had a terrible injuries to his foot and tail, and numerous bruises and abrasions. Zyler had limped to the side of the road and found warmth in an old deer carcass, curling up in the fur.

Zyler was found by a BDAR volunteer and brought to the adoption center. A microchip helped to locate an owner, who was both unable to help him and unable to reclaim him. Our team went to work attending to his wounds. After a couple of months, the loss of a toe, and the amputation of a destroyed tail, Zyler made a complete recovery. He gained more than 15 pounds and was adopted, just last week, to an incredible home ready to spoil him for the rest of his days.

Every year, more than 400 homeless animals come to BDAR for a second chance, and almost all of them need to see the doctor in order to get it.

This fundraiser will run through April 30th, culminating in the running of the Jackalope 5K in Laramie, WY. You do not have to sign up for the race, or be present to help make a difference! But since this fundraiser is so important to the animals who need us, we are offering some fun incentives for donors. Check them out below!

  • Donate $25 or more and be entered to win one of five Jackalope 5K tech shirts.
  • Donate $50 or more and be entered to win one of five Nalgene bottles, featuring the BDAR logo.
  •  Donate $100 or more and be entered to win one of five zip-up hoodies, a favorite among our volunteers!
  • Donate $250 or more and be entered in all 3 of the drawings above. You could win one of everything!
  •  Donate $500 or more and be entered to win a reserved half table for you and 3 of your friends at this year's Bark and Wine gala, to be held October, 7th, 2016 at the historic Hereford Ranch in Cheyenne, WY.

What is the Jackalope 5K?

The Jackalope 5K is a historic fun run held in the spring every year in Laramie, WY. The race is the capstone event for our spring fundraiser and proceeds from race registrations and sponsorships benefit BDAR.

If you'd like more information about the race itself or wish to register to participate in it, click the "Register for Event" button.

Update #1

Little Koukla here was just adopted! She came to BDAR suffering from some allergies, stress, and hair loss. But she got the care she needed just in time to be scooped up by her new, loving family!

There are almost 90 days left before the race, and registrations are picking up! Already, the Jackalope is on track to beat previous year's registration numbers.

What's more, people are joining our fundraising team! Sign up as an individual or as a group and help raise money for the cause you care about. All of the proceeds from this year's race will go toward helping homeless pets get the medical care they need to get off on the right foot in a forever home.

Together, we are reaching for the stars and are hoping to raise $10K by race day. Whether you've signed up to run or not, you can make a difference. Thank you for caring about our furry friends!
