"Took a drive across USA 4 years ago from NY. First stop on the coast was the museum by design. Kay was so enthusiastic. Thank you."

About My Campaign

The World Kite Museum in Long Beach, Washington, was founded in 1988 by Kay Buesing and her husband Jim.  Under Kay's stewardship the museum has grown from a small house museum to a ten thousand square foot facility on the Sid Snyder beach approach. We hold the David Checkley collection of kites as well as the entire archives of the American Kitefliers Association in our museum. We have the honor of being the only kite museum in the United States and having the largest collections of kites and kite related ephemera in North America. This campaign will begin an endowment fund designed to honor the efforts of our founding director, kiter, and philanthropist Kay Buesing, by preserving her dream of bringing the joy of kiting to future generations.
