About

We are an ardent supporter of Boys and Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana, the future owner / operator of the Parkland club. http://www.bgckyana.org/  Our organization was choosen by the Salvation Army of Louisville (KY) as a finalist in the purchase of the former Parkland Boys and Girls Club.  We were honored because our organization was chartered solely to deal with this issue, for the kids and for the community.  We pledge our support in an advisory and community conduit role to B&GC of Kentuckiana, happy to see the center open to youth, perhaps with services extended to serve the wider adult community, too.   WE NEED VOLUNTEERS NOW!

What We Do

Our organization was formed immediately following the closure of Salvation Army-run Boys and Girls Club.  Outrage and concern regarding the closings was focused into action.

 We have five goals:

  • Immediate reopening of a center in Parkland
  • Advisory relationship with the next operator
  • Acquiring property for the center,  if necessary
  • Care of this facility, if necessary
  • Alternate programming to complement Boys and Girls Club curriculum

Get Connected with Us

We are an organization dedicated to being an open and public entity that serves the wider community.  We are in need of your giving and your time / expertise.  Please join us!

The Facility

Located at 3200 Greenwood Ave., the center is a two story building built in the early 1980's to serve as a youth community center.

The existing amenities:

1st Floor

2 - Classroom / Community Rms

1 - Admin office

1 - Gym office

3 - Restrooms

3 - Offices

1 - Gym

2 - Shower rooms

2nd Floor

Computer lab

Art room

2 - teen / rec rooms

1 - Library

1- Office

Adjacent

1/2 acre - undeveloped sports field / playground

Building condition - good

Move-in condition - to be determined, issues of water damage

Programming

Our role is to acquire and maintain the facilities.  We are partnering with operators to provide the services in the building.  We have very promising informal committements from qualified and promient programming operators with track records in the administration of youth and community services.  These entities would act as cornerstone tenants during non-school hours for kids.  Agreements are forthcoming.
