About Me

As I watched my personal friends struggle with this economy to the point of losing everything, and packing up what was left, and moving to Nicaragua I felt sorry for them.  With their return to the states, I was amazed and to be honest somewhat envious of what they learned not only about themselves but, about the passion they fell in love with - education.  I was struck with how they made what most people would call “a devastation” (with losing everything) into a self-discovery that has lead them to start Go-for-Hope International.  For me, growing up in the NYC school system and not really having a chance to succeed in life (so they say), I see the value of education, and what it can do not only for your social placement but your self-image as well.  Both Joe and Lindy have made a decision to move forward with their passion and start this non-profit where 100% of the proceeds go directly to education projects.  Please help me as I run in the NYC marathon and raise funds for this worthy cause!  GO-FOR-HOPE!

About

Calling All Difference Makers!

Every year 500,000 (half a million) Central American children, from a region just about the size of California, drop out of school before their 12th birthday.  Schools are far away; sometimes the buildings are unsafe and there is no potable water or sanitary plumbing.  Many times school books are outdated and battered.  Teachers are in demand, but are paid close to $10 a week.  And often, children are needed at home to care for the farm or for their families.

These children dream of a better future, but their hopes are crushed by the burden of generational poverty.

The Promise of Education is the Key to Freedom

So how does completing primary schooling end poverty?

Go For Hope's Beginnings...

In August of 2010 the Hafner family left behind everything they were familiar with and moved to Nicaragua, the 2nd poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.  They stepped across a threshold into the unknown, bearing little more than curiosity and hope, and emerged nine-months later wrapped in gratitude and compassion.

The Hafner story did not end upon their return to Washington soil.  With a heart for the poorest children in Central America, Joe and Lindy founded Go For Hope in January of this year.  Now, six months later, its time to share how Go For Hope is going to free the most disadvantaged children from the bonds of generational poverty.  The next chapter is unfolding, and you are invited to become a part of it.

Join us to hear how Go For Hope is renovating the education-charity paradigm, inspiring families through meaningful travel, and writing a brighter future into the narrative of Central America’s poorest people.
