More Info

We have wrapped up all our final fundraising events, packed the props and are on our way.  Thanks to all who helped us get to WORLD FINALS.  We couldn't have done it without you.

Third and Fourth grade students from Redding Elementary who competed in the Division I "Not so Haunted House" problem received a second place medal on Saturday along with an invitation to represent Redding and the state of Connecticut at the World Finals in Ames Iowa on May 28th.

Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem solving competition where students of all ages prepare a long term problem solution as well as compete in an on-the-spot hands on or verbal "spontaneous" problem.  Students work together in teams, preparing their long term problem solutions over weeks or months.  There are five problem categories across four age divisions, ranging from technical challenges to artistic and performance-based problems. Since each of the long-term problem categories also reward "Style" in their solution, teams write and perform creative presentations to accompany their long term solutions.

Hundreds of teams from all around the world will advance from their regional and state contests to compete this year in the 35th Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at the University of Iowa. This competition emphasizing creativity and teamwork has grown into the largest international creative problem-solving competition worldwide with millions of students competing over the last three decades. This young team from Redding now enters the next challenging phase of their journey to the World Finals, looking to raise the funds required to lodge and transport the team and their props to Ames over the next few weeks. If you would like to help sponsor the team please email coach Kristoffer Singleton at [email protected].
