Per my Auntie Wendy, Kayla's platletts decided to cooperate. Going in for round 3. She has been gong strong since the beginning. I am finally organized and back online, let's all get back in the groove and show our love and support for Kayla. We did a lot during the holiday season, it's almost Spring, let's get it going again! Kayla hasn't had it easy, but those dimples still show! Also, we have put in a request for the donations we have helped raised to be disbursed, it is going to take a little bit for the process to complete, so in the meantime LET'S DONATE!!!! She still needs all the help possible. She has done so thus far with our Fundly still collecting, imagine how it'll be once she gets THIS!?? Pass the word along. Love and such...

Update! We're still working hard to Knock Out AML. Thank you to Mister Jon Van Severen for his generous donation, yet again! You are truly an amazing individual. Thank you for showing love in times like these. My cousin is super strong and happy and really appreciates all of the Supporters and Donators! This also includes those of you who check out RetroSpect and spread the word on the purchases for donation there (http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheLostPoet) as well as Avon: From Gloria and the contributions via her shop! (http://gallred.avonrepresentative.com/). Let's keep this going! Happy New Year!

I was just informed by Johnny Beckham from Parker, AZ, that he has locally raised $500 for Kaya and will be depostiing it into the bank account that the Fundly donations will be deposited. This means with what we have managed to do here and what he has managed to do there, we have a total of $1,710!!! Let's keep this going!

Information on what AML is:
AML: Acute myeloid leukemia (also known as acute myelogenous leukemia), a quickly progressive malignant disease in which there are too many immature blood-forming cells in the blood and bone marrow, the cells being specifically those destined to give rise to the granulocytes or monocytes, both types of white blood cells that fight infections. In AML, these blasts do not mature and so become too numerous. AML can occur in adults or children. Acute myeloid leukemia is also known as acute myelogenous leukemia or acute nonlymphocytic leukemia (ANLL).
The early signs of AML may be similar to the flu or other common diseases with fever, weakness and fatigue, loss of weight and appetite, and aches and pains in the bones or joints. Other signs of AML may include tiny red spots in the skin, easy bruising and bleeding, frequent minor infections, and poor healing of minor cuts.
First, blood tests are done to count the number of each of the different kinds of blood cells and see whether they are within normal ranges. In AML, the red blood cell levels may be low, causing anemia; platelet levels may be low, causing bleeding and bruising; and the white blood cell levels may be low, leading to infections.
A bone marrow biopsy or a bone marrow aspiration may be done if the results of the blood tests are abnormal. During a bone marrow biopsy, a hollow needle is inserted into the hip bone to remove a small amount of the marrow and bone for examination under a microscope. In a bone marrow aspirate, a small sample of liquid bone marrow is withdrawn through asyringe.
A lumbar puncture, or spinal tap, may be done to see if the disease has spread into the cerebrospinal fluid, which surrounds the central nervous system (CNS) -- the brain and spinal cord.
Other key diagnostic tests may include flow cytometry (in which cells are passed through a laser beam for analysis), immunohistochemistry (using antibodies to distinguish between types of cancer cells), cytogenetics (to determinechromosome changes in cells), and molecular genetic studies (DNA and RNA tests of the cancer cells).
The primary treatment of AML is chemotherapy. Radiation therapy is less common; it may be used in certain cases. Bone marrow transplantation is under study in clinical trials and is coming into increasing use.
