About Me

On June 9, Jason and I will run the Camp Pendleton Mud Run, a 10k course with hills, rock-climbing walls and lots and lots of mud!  We are running with a team dedicated to raising funds to support awareness and education to combat Sudden Cardiac Arrest.  Importantly, the Fleisher Foundation team raises funds to purchase defibrillators for public schools to ensure the safety of student athletes.

We create action heroes. The explosions at the Boston Marathon left an imprint on the members of the Fleisher Foundation. Not just because we are runners. Not because many of us have ties back to Boston. Rather, the image of runners and spectators jumping in to aid the wounded the strikes at the core of what we do.

Several years ago, the City of Boston did a study of all the cardiac arrests and found in a majority of cases bystanders were doing nothing when paramedics arrived. For every minute that goes by without CPR the chances of survival go down by 10%.

Since 2005 we've been raising funds to teach high schools kids how to respond in emergency situations - calling 911, performing CPR, using an AED. Most importantly, the funds we raise teach everyday people to take action, to be a hero. 27 of us will take to the hills, mud and obstacles of the World Famous Camp Pendleton Mud Run to raise money in honor of our friend Amos Fleisher who died of Sudden Cardiac Arrest. The funds go to a unique partnership with the American Heart Association and public schools to educate sophomores and their families to respond to a heart emergency.

For every $25 raised, we train 3 people. That makes a huge difference. When a crisis hits, whether it be big like the Boston Marathon Bombing or a single individual in need, we plan to have someone trained who can be an action hero.
