UPDATE: Though my goal was ambitious, we raised more than enough money for Ms. Jackson to pay for another year at Roosevelt. I would like to thank everyone who contributed. It means as much to me as it does to Tierra.

In the time since I started this Fundly account, North Lawndale College Prep started the Tierra Jackson Scholarship Fund. I strongly suggest anyone who would still like to help her go to www.nlcphs.org and donate directly to them. I wish something like Fundly existed when I was in her situation. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for all of you who contributed! I can't say it enough.

Tierra Jackson was homeless in high school, and still managed to graduate, amidst the stress of not having a home and having to take care of her family. Currently, she is a junior at Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. Her journey was not easy, though, and it is still goinghttp://storycorps.org/listen/stories/tierra-jackson-and-john-horan/

Having been homeless while trying to navigate through high school and college, I remember how hard it was to get by. I remember pretending like everything was ok when I was panicking about where I was going to stay in between semesters. I remember frantically rushing to get to the cafteteria before it closed, because I would not have any food to eat if I didn't. No one should go through that.

I want to help Ms. Jackson take care of her tuition and some of her living expenses so that she can focus on her studies and not have any clouds of doubt over her head. Help her achieve her goals and move on to great things. Any little amount counts. All proceeds will go straight to the Tierra Jackson College Fund, run by North Lawndale College Prep, her high school alma mater.
