About My Campaign
The New York Times City Room blog's recent article on Nuyorican poet Jesus "Papoleto" Melendez financial difficulties struck a chord within the poetry community. Too often, our veteran poets are left out in the cold with little to no financial help. We live in a culture that does not reward poets for their contributions to literature, society and art overall but thankfully we can take these matters into our own hands. Please give whatever you can so we help this poet get on his feet financially. Presently, Jesus Melendez is three month's behind on his rent and as you and I know, it's cold outside. Please, give what you can and we will get these desperatly needed funds to Mr. Melendez. Thank you. Below is a link to the articel.
