Help us go to the NCC in Philadelphia!

Thank you everyone for your support of our trip to Philadelphia! We received a donation this morning that put us over the top, so we are Philly-Bound! Without your tireless support, this would have been the first class that was unable to go, and it was so wonderful to see such an outpouring of support. We love you all and are so grateful to have you in our extended LoMA family!
We are so incredibly thankful to all of you!

Dear Friend of LoMA,

Every year, LoMA's Junior class has gone to Philadelphia for a US History trip to the National Constitution Center.  On this trip, our teachers take us to view interactive exhibits and activities to better understand the idea of the Living Constitution.  We learn about constitutional current events, compete in trivia, do a scavenger hunt, and tackle the same issues as Supreme Court Justices.  It may not seem like much, but since it is indeed the biggest year of our high school lives, we all look forward to this opportunity because it allows us to come together as a cohort and explore the topics we are learning about beyond our home here in New York.  Due to the budget cuts of our school, we were informed that this trip would not be available to us this year, because we can't afford the transportation.  However, our class is committed to fundraising so that the class of 2019 would also have a chance to go.  We think it is important not only to come closer together as a class, but also to learn from the museum of the US Constitution, which we have been studying all year.  We hope you look at the pictures from past years and agree with us that it is very worthwhile.  We thank you so much for supporting us, and ask that you please spread the word!

Gratefully,

Jan E. & Christin T. on the behalf of the Class of 2019

Some thoughts from last year's Junior Class about the trip:

"I liked the visuals, there were really great visuals.  I had fun learning there, I'll tell you that much.  Also, chopped cheese!" -Rogelio D., Class of 2018

"In terms of like being an academic trip, it had very engaging exhibits.  I thought the show and the activities were a lot of fun, and even when I was doing my worksheets, I found the learning enjoyable.  That show was so great!  I still think of it." -Imani H., Class of 2018

"It was an interesting experience for us because we got closer to each other and to the statues of the founders.  The trivia competition was probably the most fun." -Debora J., Class of 2018

"I didn't get to go last year because I was absent, and then I had to hear about how great the trip was, and I really feel like I had missed out on a great learning time with my fellow students and likeable teachers." -Justin C., Class of 2018

"It was really fun to come together as a school and learn, and to see all of the other schools made us even closer.  It was especially great for a history guy like me." -Rafael A., Class of 2018

"It was really enjoyable.  I feel like I learned more than I even did in class (don't tell my teacher)!" -Diamond A., Class of 2018

"I liked seeing the streets and the old historic buildings." -Brian L., Class of 2018
