About Me

50% of the population of Haiti is 18 years or younger. The population is a very young population and is in need of much support. It is a vibrant, bright and ambitious group of extraordinary men and women who are struggling to reach their fullest potential just like those of us who have made it somewhere in this world. Their world is Haiti and we can help them realize their dreams of reaching their star. PHPglobal is seeking funding to implement a mental health program for adolescent girls and young women in two regions of Haiti. Your support is so much needed and our goal will be reached with your modest contribution. Thank you for your generosity.

"Healthy Minds" is the name of the project established by Partners in Health Protection, Inc. to provide mental health counseling for young girls and young adult women in Haiti.

More to come....

Need for psychological counseling

After attending a conference on Mental Health issues among women, young girls and other victims of the disaster event of January 12, 2010 in Haiti, PHPglobal has decided to launch a campaign to raise funds in order to establish an ongoing program for mental health care for women and young girls.

Girl Toussaint

Recently at the airport in Port-au-Prince, a father who had seen me go through the security line asked me if I was a doctor. When I responded yes, he asked me for my business card and said “I hope to get in touch with you for a service". I said fine and handed him my card.

Later on, he approaches me and begins to tell me his story. He is the father of a nine year old girl who witnesses the death of her mother during the earthquake disaster of 2010. She has not been the same since. She is not able to attend school and day or night she screams and asks her father, "when is my mother coming back"?. At the county clinic, the pediatrician recommends that the father takes his daughter to a psychologist. But he does not know where, and he does not havethe means to help his daughter. He is lost and fears for his only daughter who soon will become an adolescent.

We need to help. Help us raise money to support a program for young girls.

C. Elderly

A woman is sitting in the backyard waiting for the owner of the house. She arrived very early in the morning in order to make sure that she would not miss the opportunity to see him. It is almost 8:30 AM and he is still not awake. She decides that maybe she will come back another time. I was observing this scene and decided to chat with her while she waited. I heard the story of a mother who lost everything on January 12, 2010. She even lost her mind and she does not even know it. She tells me that she was helping a friend attend to a party for her employer when the disaster occured. She proceeded to leave that house and went to her home. When she arrived at the location where the house stood earlier that day, she could not understand where it was. She learned that her nieces and nephews had perished through the debris. Her daughter lost her husband and her mind. It took over 8 months, two hospitalizations, medications and a " lot of praying" to begin finding her way back to reality. After 22 months, she remembers people she worked for in the past and begins the process of restoring her life. She says that some days she stares in time and in space before deciding what to do and where to go to find a meal. She can no longer afford the hospital and the meds. She is in search of a new life and that is good news.

We need to help her and others like her. Help us raise the funds
