About

Mission Statement: To build/sustain a theater program for students that otherwise wouldn't have the means or the opportunity to participate in the performing arts.

Maverick Main Stage Productions is a community based, production driven children's theater designed to serve children in North and Northeast Portland, OR that have neither the means nor the opportunity to particpate in the performing arts.  Maverick Main Stage Productions is currently housed in a k-8 public school in North Portland.

Students are clearly hungry to engage in a positive and creative outlet of this nature, but often times programs of this nature are the first to be cut from our public schools.   While Maverick Main Stage has the passion, talent, drive and dedication to build an outstanding theater program, we simply do not have the funding. This remaining school year alone, we plan to produce one more full-fledged spring production. Our reality is that we need a budget from which to operate just to acquire theater staples like costumes, props and materials for a set. Next, we hope to outfit our stage with sound equipment, lighting equipment and curtains. And, if we raise enough funds, our program will become sustainable by securing modest salaries for the program director, an assistant, and specialized instructors such as choreographers and vocal coaches. Finally we would love to provide our students with incredible enrichment opportunities they would otherwise never have, like taking our most devoted thespians to NYC to see Broadway productions. We like to dream big around here. Why not? These kids deserve it.
