Within hours of setting this up, my friends and 'fans' of Hayden and this HLHS cause have also signed up to run 10km. Welcome to team 'Hayden's Heart',  Kristina and Andrew Brenner and Sherisse and Richie Marion!

About

Hayden was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) at 20 weeks gestation. Soon after, he was also diagnosed with a coarctation of the aortic arch. After an echocardiogram at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), it has been decided that Hayden will be born at CHOP where a team of doctors will access his diagnosis once he is born and will make the appropriate decisions on his surgical needs. Within the first week of life, Hayden will undergo open heart surgery to fix the coarctation of his aortic arch and possibly start the reconstruction of his heart with the Norwood procedure.

Hayden's condition occurs in 1 out of every 10,000 births and is in some cases genetic. In Hayden's case, the doctors have simply explained it as 'just bad luck'. We are grateful to have this information before he is born so he can be cared for at the best place possible. We know that no matter what his diagnosis shows once he is born, he is in the best hands and we have faith...

Even though Hayden isn't born yet, we are already so incredibly in love with him and proud of the warrior he will become.

He is our little hero!
