Dear Friends,
We are very excited to announce our Carnegie Hall Debut concert date! The concert will take place on Friday, October 11th, 2013 (8:00pm) in Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall in NYC. We will also be presenting our Carnegie program in Houston on September 22nd in the Shepherd School of Music's Duncan Recital Hall before taking it on the road. (Our East Coast tour includes concerts and educational programs in PA and NYC.)
Our Carnegie program, titled 'Basque Blends and Slavic Sonorites', will explore the connections between European classical composers - specifically through the string quartets of Ravel and Janacek - and the Basque and Slavic folk music from which they drew inspiration. Serving as a stylistic and interpretive bridge, we will present original string quatet arrangements of folk meodies from the Basque regions of Spain and France as well as from the Slavic countries of Poland, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic. Highlighing the program will be the premiere of a commissioned work by acclaimed Rice University Professor Karim Al-Zand, inspired by Bulgarian folk dance rhythms and melodies.
In order to reach this consummate goal, we need your help! We are working towards a goal of $12,000 which will help cover associated costs for the endeavor. Kindly consider a contribution at this time towards our goal. Every donation helps!
We look forward to the opportunity to represent our wonderful and culturally vibrant City. Thank-you!
