In June 2012, Jusoor (Bridges in Arabic), partnered with the Illinois Institute of Technology to provided partial scholarships for 50 students in Syria for undergraduate studies. Over 450 students applied from Syria, a strong reflection of the intense thirst and desire for higher education among the Syrian youth.

From September 2012, 28 students have begun their journey at IIT, they have excelled in every aspect of university life, from wining awards at academic competitions to securing summer internships at Goldman Sachs to being accepted into an undergraduate summer research program to earning 4.0 GPA’s to volunteering at the TedX talk at IIT and much more! You can read more about their journey on their student blog they have set up.

The university only covers half of the yearly costs per student. Further funding is vital in order to ensure these students are able to continue their studies next year. Please donate what you can and help secure the future for these amazing individuals, they are the future leaders of not just Syria but the world.

These students are passionate about returning to Syria and rebuilding. Indeed their aspirations range from wanting to find a cure for cancer to a burning desire to contribute to innovations in fields of aerospace engineering and wireless communications.

You can read through some of the profiles of the 26 students admitted
